Keynote Speakers

Professor Ova Emilia is the first Indonesian Professor for Medical Education. She is recently inaugurated as the Dean of Faculty of Medicine for period of October 2016-2021. Prior to the current appointment, she was responsible for the overall academic governance at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Gadjah Mada as the Vice Dean of Academic, Student and Alumni for the period of December 2012-2016. She joined UGM in 1990 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and delivers lectures in the field of ObGyn as well as Medical Education. She also works closely with colleagues at the Department of Medical Education for the comprehensive evaluation and improvement of a problem-based learning strategy in a competence-based curriculum for the undergraduate program in medicine. She obtained her Master of Medical Education from the University of Dundee, Scotland, UK before completing her residency traning program in ObGyn. After holding her specialization as Obstetrics Gynecologist, she was studying in the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia for her doctoral program. She hold PhD degree within the scope of Clinical Teaching, and Consultant ObGyn in Obstetric Gynecology Social.

Dr Donald Li is a specialist in Family Medicine and private practice in Hong Kong. He is the President of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA).  He is the Censor of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians. He is the Past President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and Chairman of the Governing Board of Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute.

Dr Li also dedicates much of his professional time to academia and teaching in Hong Kong and China. He is Honorary Fellow of the University of Hong Kong, Honorary Fellow of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Honorary Professor of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, Honorary Professor of School of Medicine and Honorary Medical Superintendent of Department of General Practice of Shanghai Tongji University, a workshop of General Practice in Shanghai East Hospital, Adjunct Professor of School of Medicine of Zhejiang University.  He was awarded Shanghai Magnolia Silver Award by Shanghai Municipal People’s Government on 2017 and the Fok Ying-Tung Prize –The World Outstanding Chinese Doctor Award in 2019. He is a registered Mainland China medical practitioner and has contributed to the training and development of family medicine in mainland for over twenty years.

Dr Li is an active member of many Hong Kong governmental, non-government organization and public health bodies. He is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council, Director of Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, a policy thinktank, Director of the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Association and member of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance council, Honorary Steward of Hong Kong Jockey Club, member of the Steering Committee on Primary Healthcare Development of Food & Health Bureau, member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers on Innovation and Strategic Development, Chairman of Professional Committee on Medical Health of Belt and Road General Chamber of Commerce, Member of Slope Safety Communication Strategy Advisory Committee of Civil Engineering and Development Department, Honorary Advisor of Agency for Volunteer Service.

Janet is an educational psychologist and Director of CenMEDIC (the Centre for Medical Education in Context) and the FAIMER Centre for Distance Learning in London. She is:

• Honorary Professor in University College London Medical School,
• Senior Scholar, Department of Medical Education, University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, and
• Emerita Professor of Education in Medicine at the UK Open University.
• Personal Adviser to the President of the World Federation for Medical Education.

For most of her academic life, Janet conducted policy research in medical education for the UK government and professional medical and regulatory bodies. Her interests are in policy research, regulation, educational development, continuing professional development (she is author of The Good CPD Guide, Taylor and Francis, 2012) and curriculum. She has written extensively on contextual relevance in these topics.

CenMEDIC runs an international distance learning Master’s course on accreditation and assessment in health professions education for the US Foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research [FAIMER] and Keele University Medical School in the UK. Her Centre also developed and manages Sci59, the online psychometric Specialty Choice Inventory and the online Diagnostic Thinking Inventory.

Janet has been a regulator in both medical education and legal education. She has chaired the development of the 2020 WFME Standards for Basic Medical Education and the 2021 WFME Standards for Distributed and Distance Learning.

Yassein Elhussein is a 22 years old, Finalist medical student at University of Gezira, Sudan A self- motivated youth seeking opportunities to develop skills, achieve intellectual and professional growth while being resourceful and innovative. He is a social advocate, community activist, change maker and innovative leader with great experience and high organization skills, has acquired a broad range of skills while establishing, working and leading many NGOs, voluntary works, student associations, initiatives and health projects locally, nationally and even internationally. He has been recognized as a youth leader from United Nations Development Program (UNDP)-Sudan, moreover he is internationally certified soft skills trainer and human rights trainer from IFMSA, has trained and empowered thousands of students. He is a follower of TUFH since 2015, participated at World Summit on Social Accountability in 2017. Winner of SNO GEMx international student exchange program 2018 in Ireland, where he got elected as vice president of SNO. In TUFH 2019, Australia, he was elected as SNO international president demonstrating exemplary leadership in SNO team adding great value to the organization and made significant and lasting contribution to the SNO till now. He represented SNO -TUFH at 73rd World Health Assembly of the WHO. Recently he was enrolled as a policy fellow on TUFH 2020 Fellowship program on Social Accountability and Accreditation. He is a real model for the youth and huge inspiration to SNO in TUFH community. He is an advocate for human rights and passionate about health research, public health and medical education.
